The Grateful Dead talk “In the Dark”

Grateful Dead

Brent Mydland conducts this off the cuff 1987 interview with his fellow band-mates on the subject of The Grateful Dead’s new album In The Dark. In this questionably sober discussion, the subject matter ranges from the bands view of the new album to Jerry’s diabetic coma in 1986. The band also discusses who they would choose to play themselves in the movie of The Grateful Dead should one ever be made. Well, 21 years later ex-roadie Steve Parish’s book Home Before Daylight, based on his time with The Grateful Dead, is currently in the works to be transformed into a biopic. The shortlist of directors being considered includes Oliver Stone, Sean Penn, Jonathan Demme and Larry Charles.
