Inspecting the true American spirit through it's distinct artistic voice. A celebration of the American consciousness in all its creative forms.

After a standout show on 12/29/97, the band gave a loose, funky performance on the second night of their three-night holiday stand at MSG on 12/30 with a show-opening “Sneakin’ Sally Thru The Alley” and a playful, non-stop second set that highlighted a sublime “AC/DC Bag”, “McGrupp And The Watchful Hosemasters” and “Harpua” which introduced elements of the New Year’s Eve Udder Ball gag and Tom Marshall’s appearance for Phish’s first and only cover of The Proclaimer’s “I Wanna Be (500 Miles)”. A deep, four-song encore completed a curfew breaking second set.
Paul Languedoc’s 2-track soundboard mix, fully remastered by Fred Kevorkian is available now for download at LivePhish.com (MP3 and FLAC) and on CD as part of the LivePhish series, packaged in an innovative and earth friendly (fully recycled) folding softcase digi-pak. Take me to the silent places
Places I can think
Looking at the silent faces
Hoping that they blink
Feeling just the wind
Nothing pre-arranged
Sending salutations
To the homeless and deranged
Thinking in those silent places
Thoughts that simply come
Listening for the traces
Of voices now long gone
When the time displaces
All the woes and wants
Now I am complacent
This moment now will haunt
So take me to the silent places
Places I can think
Looking at the silent faces
Hoping that they blink
